Clock and Time Book

It is time to think about New Year’s Crafts and Journals. What will you keep note of this past year?  Cyndi of Lovely Lula Here. I created a book with the New Year in mind. I will use this as a journaling book for the next few weeks as I write and doodle about 2011.

I used my Cuttlebug and the Clockworks Embossing Folders to pull the details of this journaling book together. Once it is complete I will bind it on my YourStory. Here’s to the New Year.

Snow Days Cartridge Gift Wrap

Cyndi of Lovely Lula here and I am excited to show this project I made using today’s Hello Thursday Cartridge called Snow Days that I paired with vintage holiday wrapping paper.

I first wrapped a plain white box top that I picked up at a paper supply store, with red holiday ribbon to give it more texture. I then used the Snow Days cart to cut a cute little bundled up kid shape out of the vintage paper. I cut several of them and glued them to the box.

I also made a coordinating card because really how could I resist?

You’ve Been Booed! With Go Canada! and Paper Trimmings!

Hi, it’s Kendra here on this wonderful Wednseday and I thought that I would have some fun with our neighbors this year and Boo them!  It really is a lot of fun and helps spread some holiday cheer!  It is pretty simple really.
You create a sign to let your neighbors know that they have been Booed and prepare a yummy treat.  In this case, my sign sticks in the ground and my treat is a cute little jar of candy.
But you can make your sign however you want and you can give what ever you want.  Just have fun and use your imagination.  If you google You’ve Been Booed you will see there are tons of different ideas and poems out there to use!
I created my sign with Go Canada! Cricut Cartridge and Paper Trimming Cricut Circle Cartridge  The base shape was cut with Paper Trimming as well as the cute little Graveyard and Ghost.  The circle for the jar was also cut with this cartridge.  All of the words were created using Go Canada!  And let me tell you I have fallen in love with this font!  It is so fun and whimsical and I can’t wait to use it again and again!
Happy Scrappin’

Sometimes we all need a little inspiration…

I think sometimes we all need a little inspiration and this week definitely feels like one of those weeks for me. I wanted to share a motivational quote I came across by Dewey Bozella, “Never let fear determine who you are and never let where you come from determine where you are going.”

I found several fun items at our local flee market… black lace (used for the trim under the skirt), cute flower appliques (the flower on the belt and in her hair), and I used an inexpensive book that I bought for less than $1 (I used this to make the body of the girl). Here are the instructions:

1. Paint canvas with acrylic paint in horizontal stripes with 4 coordinating paints. Then use a paper towel to blot the canvas to give the paint added texture and help blend the colors.

2. Use plastic trim with circles as a mask to paint circles on to the canvas (you can also use bubble wrap for a similar effect). Use circle shape as a stamp to make big painted circles for added layers and distressing.

3. Cut out a border using the Cricut Cake Basics cartridge to use as another mask. Adhere to the canvas with temporary adhesive and paint over the border shape. Remove the shape to reveal the non painted area.

4. Spray canvas with Glitter Mist (I used Tattered Angels Dazzling Diamonds).

5. Cut the body of the girl out of a newsprint, book, or text patterned paper. To make the skirt, cut strips and crinkle to give dimension. Add lace behind the skirt for depth. Use ribbon around waist.

6. Write quote on patterned paper, cut out and adhere to canvas.

7. Use Mod Podge to paint canvas. Let dry.

8. Adhere girl on the right side of the canvas.

9. Adhere flowers and embellishments to the lower left hand corner.

I hope you enjoyed the project… Have a great weekend.

Thanks,

Diana McGraw
