Family Mail holder (gypsy)

The family mail holder was created using the gypsy. My family has a very hard time putting mail away. It seems to migrate all over the house. When I saw this basket at the flea market I knew exactly what I was going to do with it. I am so happy with how it turned out.

Monster Mirror for James Room

James, my 8 year old’s first mixed media Provo craft project. My sweet boy has never asked to work with me before this day. His sister was visiting Nana and Papa and he wanted to spend time with me. I was working on hello Thursday projects that day. I asked him if he wanted to help create the monsters for the release. he was so excited and had so much fun. he even added a ton of glitter to the eyes and mouth. I do have to learn more patience. Kids waste supplies and I am so thrifty it is hard to watch. I am learning how to accept the waste just to have the time. My son has mild Asperger’s  and he prefers to play by himself so him wanting to work with me was such an honor. He worked on the monsters and i worked on the frame. We had a blast.

I bought a $1.00 frame and some red paint sealed it with glittered sealer. I cut the words James out of the Cricut American Alphabet included with the Cricut Expression 2 at 2 inches added foam dots and added at angles to the right side of the frame. On the right I cut ut a ribbon from Just a note at 3 inches from page 45. The other details are from Cricut essentials also included with the AE2. A little pom-pom trim and some extra pizzazz from pearl pens from VIVA Decor.

Funky Birdcage Charm…

I love playing with grunge board and the Cricut. I used the Serenade cartridge and the birdcage at 3 inches. I always work with my gypsy so I usually alter the inside of the cage a little bit. I cut the grunge board birdcage out. I painted the birdcage crimson red with luminieres covered in a light coat of glossy accents. I used the Tim Holtz jewelry findings for the flowers and leaves. I bought matching connectors and charm clasp. The metal flowers i painted crimson. I than added a butterfly(Cake basics cartridge) screen printed on shrinky dink material. I used markers to color the image and then heated the shrinky dink material to create the butterfly charm. I added the charm to bottom right edge of the cage. I used fancy pants papers a bird from one of th papers cut it out added a layer of glossy accents and attached to backside of the cage. I will place a piece of clear on the backside once I find the necklace I like. The beads were just added to large connector rings.

My Experiment with Etching…

I was so excited to play with etching cream.  I thought wow I will make a cool frame for above the pool table area. I will tell you I was on my way out-of-town. I thought what a cool project that would be quick and fun. Oh my I should have known better and I picked a detailed design and used the wrong part not the cut out. I have to say etching and me well were not best buddies. I was inspired by Kendra’s bottles. I am going to stick to other medium for now. I am also adding a picture of an album I am teaching for Fancy Pants.
