Layout – Grandpa & Me

This past week my dad came to visit and we had an awesome time! The boys love having him here. He walked them to school everyday and picked them up in the afternoon. Then they would spend the rest of the day playing in the yard or pushing each other on our tree swing. It made me feel great to see them so happy.

We spent Memorial Day weekend at the beach, did some shopping at the farmer’s market in Santa Barbara, and went to the Star Wars concert in LA. It was a jam packed week and while my dad has only been gone for two days, they boys are already asking when he will return. So I thought it fitting to create a layout using one of my favorite pictures from the trip and send it to him for Father’s Day.

While I was looking though my scrapbook room for inspiration, the Yudu screen from last week’s project caught my eye. I loved that design! I also wanted to play around a little more with UTEE or embossing powder. So I thought I would try using the screen as a negative to ink my page with the design.

First I cut my paper and adhered it to my cardstock along with my picture. Then I placed the screen on top of the layout and inked away. Once I was done inking, I added clear UTEE and embossed with a heat tool. I repeated these steps 3 times to get good coverage.

I embossed on a transparency, photo and cardstock and I didn’t have any problems. You can see part of the design below.

After it was cooled off and dry, I added my embelishments to the upper right hand corner of the photo and I placed the title just above the photo. I then stapled a piece of tulle to the lower left hand corner and adhered the embelishments to the right hand corner.

The final step was adding my journaling to the bottom of the layout. This was definitely a fun and innovative way to use my Yudu screens.

I hope you enjoyed the project and have a great Thursday!

Father’s Day Music Tool Box

Cyndi of Lovely Lula Here. It is time to get crafting for Father’s Day. I made a “tool kit” but with personalized mix CD’s in place of tools. I used the Father’s Day cartridge for the Happy Father’s Day and the American Alphabet cartridge loaded in the new Cricut Expression Anniversary Edition machine to make the Guitars.  The pieces were cut out of grey suede paper and silver glitter paper.

For the tool box I found one at the craft store, spray painted it red and then used a sanding block to rough it up so it had a wear and tear look about it. Then I create custom play lists on i-tunes and burned them to CD’s.

Happy crafting xoxo Cyndi aka Lovely Lula
