“For my Mother” Vintage Hat Box Teresa Collins

Victorian Hat Box created with using Teresa Collins new cartridge Vintage Demask. I created this project for April’s Hello Thursday. I wanted to create a project to give to my mother for Mother’s day. This week is all about flowers and paper so this project is perfect for this week. I am hoping that you will find this project inspiring and I would love to see your creations.

Supplies used:

Provo Craft:

Teresa Collins Vintage Demask

Cricut Imagine

Demask II

Other Supplies:

Chipboard

Viva décor Inka Gold

Platinum

Viva décor Pearl pens

12×12 white cardstock

Ribbon in brown and pink

Paint the 10 inch hat box chocolate brown and let it dry. From the vintage damask cartridge print out the papers (brown damask pattern, pink damask pattern, and the pink stripe pattern) on white cardstock. Trace the lid onto the backside of the brown damask paper cut it out and glue to the lid. To make sure the edge is smooth sand the edges and then ink the edges in dark brown. Then cut out 2 of the decorative designs in chipboard paint the platinum paint on the chipboard. Then ink the edges glue one on the front of the box and one on the top. Cut out multiple scallop circles and cut the circles in the spiral pattern. Roll the spiral up into a circle, and create the circle flower with the scallop edge at top. Make 5 spiral flowers in different sizes and then create 2 paper twisted roses. Place the 2 on the outer edges of the damask chipboard pieces. Layer in the spiral flowers to create the pattern, and then cut out 2 scallop circles 3in and 2.5in glue the layers together and add a large spiral flower. This is the center piece on the lid. On the lid add the lace to the inside of the hat box, and then add the velvet ribbon to the top of lid lip. Finally add a pink sheer ribbon to the bottom edge of the box.

If you would like to learn how to make these flowers and so many more come take my All about flowers classes 2 and 3.

Baby Girl Nursery Shadow Box

Teresa Collins Baby Boutique I love this cartidge. I created this quick and fun project you will only spend th 5.00 on the frame and 2 sheets of white cardstock, a piece of ribbon, sequins, and Viva Decor Pearl Pens. I always need a present that speaks volumes and is quick to make. as a designer, teacher, author, and mother, I stay super busy and making presents for friends that take hours to create is just not in my time budget anymore. So this project is for all those out there like me. I hope you are having an amazing Easter.

Baby Girl Shadow Box
To create the shadow box uses a 5.5×5.5 shadow box from Ikea. Cut out the background paper which is the girl words paper in the square shape with the rounded edges at 6.0 inches and attach to the bottom part of the frame. This will be larger than the frame trim off the excess. Cut the scallop shape from the cartridge at 5 inches and attach to the girls word paper on pop dots. Cut the baby carriage out in layers at 4.5 inches add pop dots to the different layers to create a 3 dimensional effect center the carriage in the middle. Finishing touches add the Viva pearl pens in salmon to the stroller and the frame. To step it up add the ribbon around the inner edge and then the sequins trim. I also added the pearl pens to the centers of the sequins. That’s it I would love to see what you do with Teresa’s new baby Cartridge. I love making cute little gifts for the mommy to place in the baby’s room. I love how the designs are sweet but still have the vintage elegance I love.

Hat Pins Made Easy with the Cricut

I  signed up for several of the Swaps at the upcoming Creative Escape in August. One of the more intriguing ones is the Hat Pin Exchange. I can’t wait to see what I get in return.

For my hat pins I chose several colors of card stock, primarily from Bazzill Basics line of fabulous paper. Since I love the  Cricut, I used it to cut flower after flower from the Accent Essentials cartridge and stacked them up on long hat pins I found at a craft store. To give it the finishing touch, I applied a little sparkle with my iRock by Imaginisce.

I used my index finger to bend and fluff the different layers and found I was quite pleased with the effect. I plan to wear in my hair the Hat Pin Swaps I receive in return. It’s going to be so Fun!

Make Your Own Hat Pins:

  1. Buy plain hat pins at a craft store with a large enough head to apply the iRock to it.
  2. Purchase Bazzill Basics paper in bright colors (green, light yellow, hot pink and orange)
  3. Use the Cricut to cut the background portions of the flowers using the Accent Essentials Cartridge. (These flowers are 1.5 inches)
  4. Cut leaves out by hand using a pair of sharp scissors
  5. Spear each layer until they are all piled up on the pin. You will want to put a touch of glue between all the layers to get them to stick together.
  6. Once you put the last layer on  (the leaf) place a dot of craft glue to where the pin went though to secure the entire pile to the pin.
  7. Dry upside down
  8. Once dry, apply a little sparkle with the iRock.

Pretty as a picture!
